Water Soluble:- Vitamin- B, C.

Fat Soluble:-

Vitamin A Deficiency:- ( Retinol).

  • Night blindness.
  • Xerophthalmia
  • Keratinization.
  • Keratomalacia.
  • Bitot’s spot.
  • Delayed growth.
  • Skin irritation.
  • Poor wound healing.

Sources:-

Green, orange and yellow fruits, ( carrots, sweets,potatoes, ) green leafy vegetables (kale, spinach, broccoli),

  • Red bell paper.
  • Fish oil.
  • Milk.
  • Eggs.

Vitamin D deficiency causes:- ( Cholecalciferol)

  • Rickets
  • Osteomalacia
  • Osteomyelitis
  • Osteoporosis

Sources:-

  • Green leafy vegetables.
  • Red meat.
  • Cod Liver oil.
  • Egg yolks.
  • Canned tuna.

Vitamin E deficiency:- ( Tocopherol ).

  • Neuromuscular.
  • Less fertility
  • Disturbance.
  • Ataxia.
  • Hair loss.
  • Difficulty of walking.
  • Dry skin.
  • Anemia.

Sources:-

  • Sunflower and soyabean oils,
  • Sunflower seeds.
  • Peanuts butter.
  • Wheat germ oil.
  • Almonds.
  • Red bell paper.
  • Vegetables oils.
  • Milk
  • Egg, meat, fish.
  • Green leafy vegetables.

Vitamin K Deficiency:- (phylloquinone).

  • Abnormal bleeding.
  • Epistaxis.
  • Hematemesis.
  • Excessive bleeding due to an injury or wound.
  • Wound Taking a long time to heal.
  • Blood in the urine and stool.
  • Subcutaneous hemorrhage.

Sources:-

  • Green leafy vegetables. including collard and turnip greens, kale, spinach, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, lettuces.
  • Soybean and canola oil.
  • Salads dressing made with soybean canola oil.

Water soluble Vitamin:-

Vitamin B1 deficiency:- (Thiamine)

  • Appetite loss.
  • Constipation.
  • Beri beri ( wernicke’s encephalopathy).
  • Wernicke korsakoff syndrome (memory disorder).

  • Enriched grains and beans.

Vitamin B2 deficiency:- (Riboflavin).

  • Cheilosis.

  • Neuropathy.
  • Inflammation of the lining of the mouth.
  • Angular stomatitis.
  • Red lip.
  • Mouth ulcer.
  • Cracked lip.
  • Sore throat.

Vitamin B3 deficiency:- (niacin).

  • Pellagra.

Vitamin B6 deficiency:- (Pyridoxine).

  • Glossitis.

  • Peripheral neuropathy.
  • Dermatitis.

  • Brewer’s yeast.
  • Meat.
  • Whole grains.
  • Fish.

Vitamin B9 deficiency:- ( Folic acid).

  • Anaemia.
  • Neural tube defect.
  • Spinal bifida.
  • Encephalopathy.
  • Folate anaemia.

  • Dark green leafy vegetable, ( turnip greens, spinach, romaine lettuce, broccoli).
  • Dairy products.
  • Milk.
  • Beans.
  • Peanuts.
  • Sunflower seeds.
  • Fresh fruit, fresh juice.

Vitamin B12 deficiency:- (Cobalamin).

  • Magaloblastic anemia.
  • Pernicious anemia.
  • Memory impairment.
  • Speech difficulties.
  • Yellowing of skin.

  • Low fat milk yogurt and cheese.
  • Beef liver and chicken.
