*What is Hepatitis?

Hepatitis means inflammation of the liver. Hepatitis is primarily a disease caused by viruses and hepatitis mainly affects the liver. Due to hepatitis, the liver becomes unable to perform its functions.

*How many types of Hepatitis are there?

There are mainly five types of hepatitis. Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Hepatitis D, Hepatitis E. The viruses responsible for hepatitis are Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C. These three types of hepatitis are common in people. And viral hepatitis types B and C can cause chronic hepatitis.

*What are the symptoms of Hepatitis?

Although in some cases, the symptoms of hepatitis are not visible, but when symptoms appear, yellow skin, yellow eyes, abdominal pain, fatigue, dark urine, vomiting and fever can occur.

*Hepatitis-A (HAV)

Hepatitis A infection is spread by consuming contaminated food and contaminated water. This infection is spread by not washing hands or eating food in any dirty utensils or by consuming those infected items.

*Hepatitis B (HBV)

Hepatitis B, also known as serum hepatitis, was previously believed to be the primary cause of hepatitis B spread through the serum or liquid part of the blood containing the virus. But it is now known that hepatitis B can be transmitted through sexual contact, drug abuse and transfer of blood or serum through shared needles or by blood transfusion, sharing a shave razor or sharing a toothbrush. can spread from If a pregnant woman has hepatitis B, she is more likely to develop hepatitis B in her baby if the first dose of hepatitis B is not given to the newborn immediately after birth.

*Hepatitis C (HCV)

The virus is spread through contact with contaminated blood or by sharing needles or by sharing tattoo equipment. The virus is transmitted by pregnant women during delivery from mother to child. Its main symptoms are abdominal pain, vomiting, fever, fatigue, weight loss, yellowing of the skin and eyes.

*Hepatitis D (HDV)

Hepatitis-D virus is also called delta virus. Hepatitis-D only occurs in people who are already infected with the hepatitis-B virus. This virus can be transferred through infected blood transfusion, semen or vaginal secretions from infected needles. Its main symptoms are fatigue, joint pain, abdominal pain, yellowing of eyes or skin, vomiting, dark urine, etc. There is a very small chance that it can be passed from mother to child during pregnancy. Its defenses are to be advised to practice safe sex, to avoid sharing intravenous drug needles or supplies.

*Hepatitis-E ( HEV)

Hepatitis-E virus is mainly transmitted through faecal oral transmission and consumption of contaminated water, which is similar to hepatitis A. Its symptoms include jaundice, loss of taste, nausea, etc.

*How can hepatitis be prevented?

Hepatitis can be prevented through vaccine. And to prevent hepatitis, a number of precautions should be taken such as – practice sex safely and avoid infected blood transfusion. Sharing of intravenous drug needles should be avoided and consumption of anything infected should be avoided.
